Martin Luther King, Jr.

As a younger child, I remember going to my Grandmother’s house, on one of her walls in her living room was a picture of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his “I Have A Dream” speech. I could barely read at the time, but I loved it so much that I would do my best to read it each time I went over there.

It wasn’t until I was in school that I had the pleasure to listen to this beautiful and powerful speech:
Martin Luther King – I Have a Dream on August 28, 1963
It is so amazing how far we have come as a people, and also sad to see how much farther we need to go. Of course I don’t agree with all of MLK Jr.’s thoughts and ideas, however his intentions were so pure and good. The passion he had was truly astounding and very inspiring. There are very few people whom one could look at and see how they singly changed a nation, and had such an impact globally.
Today I will, be teaching Quinton about this remarkable man, and because of this I have been doing my homework in order to do so. For those of you who want more of the information I have found here are some a links to sites I have found:

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.”

God Bless,
Jacque Heaton
